AI Assistant

The AI Assistant helps you work faster throughout the admin account; answering questions from a notebook's sources, creating and editing content in the Content Builder, and generating full course outlines.

  1.  Using the AI Assistant in a Notebook

Test how your knowledge base responds, and generate content directly from a notebook's sources.

    1. Open a Knowledge Notebook that has at least one source added.
    2. Look to the right side of the screen — the AI Assistant panel opens automatically whenever you're in a notebook with sources.
    3. On a new conversation, you'll see five quick-action buttons above the message box: Summarize, Review, Search, Practice, and Create.
    4. Select Summarize to see sample prompts for getting an overview of the notebook: "What is this notebook about?", "What key topics are covered?", or "Can you summarize this notebook?"
    5. Select Review to see sample prompts for checking the notebook's content: "What are the key takeaways?", "Are there any points of conflict or misalignment in this notebook?", or "What is most important to know?"
    6. Select Search to see sample prompts for looking up a specific topic: "What does this notebook say about [topic]?", "Can you provide more details about [topic]?", or "What additional information is available about [topic]?"
    7. Select Practice to see sample prompts for generating assessments: "Can you generate a 5-question quiz?", "Can you create a knowledge check?", or "Can you create scenario-based questions?"
    8. Select Create to see sample prompts for generating new content: "Can you create a course outline?" or "Can you write a training video script?"
    9. Select any sample prompt to use it as-is, or write your own question directly in the message box at the bottom of the panel.
    10. Select the send arrow, or press Enter, to submit your question.
    11. Review the assistant's response in the conversation thread. Answers are grounded in the notebook's sources and may include key points, bullet lists, or next steps depending on what you asked.
    12. Type a follow-up question in the message box and send it to continue the same conversation.
    13. Select New chat at the top of the panel to clear the conversation and start over with a blank thread.
Using the AI Assistant in the Content Builder

Generate and edit course content directly while you're building a course.

    1. Open a course in the Content Builder (select a course from Content > Channels, then choose to edit it).
    2. Select the Assistant button in the top navigation bar to open the AI Assistant panel.
    3. On a new conversation, you'll see five quick-action buttons above the message box: Create, Change, Add, Review, and Transform.
    4. Select Create to see sample prompts for generating new material for your course.
    5. Select Change to see sample prompts for revising existing content in your course.
    6. Select Add to see sample prompts for inserting new elements, such as sections or activities.
    7. Select Review to see sample prompts for checking your course content.
    8. Select Transform to see sample prompts for converting or restructuring existing content.
    9. Select any sample prompt to use it as-is, or write your own request directly in the message box at the bottom of the panel — for example, describing a change you want made to the course.
    10. Select the send arrow, or press Enter, to submit your request.
    11. Review the assistant's response in the conversation thread. Depending on your request, the assistant may generate new content, propose edits, or apply changes directly to the course you're editing.
    12. Type a follow-up message in the message box and send it to continue refining the content in the same conversation.
    13. Select New chat at the top of the panel to clear the conversation and start over with a blank thread.
    14. Select Add notebook near the top of the course editor to link one of your notebooks to the course, so its content can inform what the assistant creates.
    Generating a course with AI

Use AI to draft an entire course outline from a description, files, or an existing notebook.

    1. Go to Content > Channels in the left navigation.
    2. Open the channel you want to add a course to.
    3. Select Create New.
    4. Select Generate with AI from the dropdown menu.
    5. In the Describe your course field, enter a description of the course you want to create.
    6. Optionally, select Add Files to upload supporting material (PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT, or SCORM .zip files) for the assistant to draw from.
    7. Optionally, select Add Notebooks to open the Select Notebook picker, and choose an existing notebook whose sources should inform the course.
    8. Optionally, enter learning goals in the Course Objectives field.
    9. Optionally, select an option from the Image Style dropdown to set the visual style for AI-generated images (default is Auto).
    10. Select Generate Outline. The button is enabled once you've entered a course description.
    11. Review the proposed lesson outline. You can edit the outline before anything is created.
    12. Confirm the outline to generate the full course, then continue refining it in the Content Builder using the AI Assistant panel as described above.
