BSN Sports, Olympic Gold Medalist, and Learner Mobile Team Up to Train a New Standard in the Fit of Swimwear for Athletes
Meichtry joined BSN SPORTS as its swimwear category manager after a stellar competitive career that included 12 world records and 28 international medals, including a gold in the 4×100 freestyle relay and a bronze in the 4×100 medley relay at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Meichtry’s focus is now on the deployment of an innovative Learner Mobile sales tool that features a fitting guide for competition swimwear, also known as “tech suits”. BSN SPORTS sales reps will use this on-demand and timely guide to help coaches and athletes select the perfect suit for each swimmer. The learning experience also informs athletes and support staff about the entire swimwear selection process and the meticulous procedure of creating these suits.
Competition suits are precisely tailored to each swimmer’s body, and getting into them can take 30 minutes or more. The fabric is often delicate (only allowing for 3-5 competitive swims) and must be handled with care. The triple-layer construction mimics shark skin, with the textured fabric creating micro currents along the suit’s surface to help reduce drag and encourage forward momentum. These suits also have targeted compressive layers, as well as bonded, ergonomic seaming along vital muscle groups that combine to increase kick power and allow for greater range of movement.
